Astrocyte

Astrocyte is not a neuron! But it is still part of our Neuron Family. Astrocytes are glial cells which were originally thought of as the "glue" of the brain, keeping the neurons together. However more research has now revealed that glial cells play many important roles in brain function. One example being that astrocytes regulate blood flow. In our design Astrocyte is in fact standing on an artery with its feet, can also be called "end feet", that can squeeze and release the blood vessel changing the flow of blood. Neurons and glial cells both need the oxygen and glucose in the blood to function.
